Teatro Franco Parenti announces an extraordinary opportunity for actors, visual artists, musicians, as well as art school students to participate in workshops conducted by members of Cricot-2, the legendary team of Tadeusz Kantor from Poland and Laura Pasetti, actress and director working extensively in Uk and Italy focusing on projects for youth.

The aim of the workshop is to explain the basic principles and innovative ideas of the Cricot-2 Theater and their possibilities and consequences for autonomous creativity.
The workshop will be hosted by Teresa and Andrzej Welminski – actors of the Cricot-2 Theater and the closest collaborators of Tadeusz Kantor for many years. Their practice comes from creative participation in the theater of Tadeusz Kantor since 1970 and after the theater has been dissolved in the continuation of theater activities and work on its own, autonomous performances. Workshops include both theory and practice.

The theory will be conveyed during conversations with participants, lectures and presentations of DVD movies. In the theoretical part we will try to explain the basic concepts of the Cricot-2 theater. We will present a short history of the Cricot-2 Theater ideas development. We will present key ideas such as ‘reality of the lowest rank’, ‘cliches of memory’, ‘mannequins’ and ‘travel idea’.

In the practical part, along with the participants, we will examine selected methods of artistic activities and the process of creating a spectacle. We will analyze different theatrical spaces and their consequences for the actor; Subject and manner of using it, space, time and their transformations, movement, structure of the performance, stage assembly, meaning and function of the text, etc. The works are based on the local character of the place and individual abilities and capabilities of the participants. Exercises usually start with the basic elementary behavior on the stage.

Classes include not only vocal, physical, movement exercises, mastering rhythms, transforming and transforming characters, but also developing and constructing objects and costumes necessary for stage etudes. It is a process in which there are continuous feedback between all participants and emerging elements, the syntheses slowly crystallize and all elements in the form of autonomous actions and etudes begin.
